Why

Why was Life Clubs started

Life Clubs was started in 2004 by former Daily Telegraph columnist, Nina Grunfeld, the highly respected expert and spokesperson in the field of self-improvement and the author of three books: The Big Book of Me, The Big Book of Us and The Life Book.

Nina's fourth book, How to Get What You Want, has been written primarily for young people and will be published by Walker Books in September 2010. It's going to be great.

Before starting Life Clubs, Nina was working one-to-one with clients helping them discover their purpose in life. Reading an article about the struggles that 30-year olds face, Nina began to think of ways she could help these 30 year olds and anyone else who couldn't afford her services. Nina got thinking… weekly clubs… everybody discovering their potential… having fun... together.

Nina saw that she could create something different. Something that was affordable and accessible, and would help others know what kind of life they wanted and then how to achieve it.

The first club started in Nina's home and soon grew. First around the UK, and now in Canada.

Eva-Marie Moffat has brought to the concept to Canada from the UK. "I'm delighted to be starting Life Clubs Canada," says Eva-Marie, CEO, Life Clubs Canada. "The moment I experienced Life Clubs, I knew I wanted to bring them to Canada. The Life Clubs workshops have provided me with the self-learning, strategies and inspiration to create the life that I have always dreamed of. My goal is to offer the same opportunity to all Canadians."

Why Life Clubs works

Some very clever psychologists and the National Health Service (NHS) have shown that Life Clubs make people happier.

The genius of Life Clubs is that it can be applied to any preoccupation, wherever you are in your life/work trajectory. Daily Telegraph

These are just three of the many elements that make Life Clubs work:

1. Our exclusively created materials

2. Our lovely 'Hosts'

Most of our Hosts have been clubbers themselves, and want to pass on the benefits they received.

3. Goal-setting.

At Life Clubs you set weekly goals on an individual basis. Working alongside the support and encouragement from others, this really gets results. Not only will you achieve your goals and gain a sense of accountability, you'll gain the confidence and skills to set bigger ones.

Here at Life Clubs Base Camp we aren't all walking around wearing rose tinted glasses with fairy lights around our computers (though that would be fun). What we have is a different approach to life. We are not perfect, but we do have a clearer way of thinking, plus the tools and knowledge to makes ourselves generally more content with our lives and we probably have more Lightbulb Moments than we used to. These are all things that we are sharing sharing around the world with Life Clubs and their fifty 90-minute workshops.

Leaving Life Clubs I felt like I was stepping out of a warm bubble bath. Paul Arden, author It's Not How Good You Are, It's How Good You Want To Be

Will it work for me

Yes it will. It will work for you in the the way that you want it to.

Everybody's different. You might want to lose a few pounds, while the Clubber to your left might want to kick start their business plan, and the Clubber on your right might be trying to find that special someone. Whatever YOU want, however big or small, you will develop a tool set of practical skills that will help you achieve things that you didn't believe possible.

The clubs tend to appeal to people who already have decent lives, but know they can make them even better. Time Out Magazine
